Date: 24 August 2026
Venue: Lecture Theatre, Institute of Chinese Studies, CUHK
The Public Policy Research Centre (PPRC) of the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, with co-organizers, presents a one-day international workshop “Criminal Policy and Justice Against Corporate Environmental Violations”, which gathers scholars from various regions to examine criminal policy responses, share enforcement best practices, and promote dialogue on environmental justice and governance.
As environmental degradation and industrial misconduct continue to pose profound threats to communities and ecosystems worldwide, the need for robust legal accountability has never been more urgent. This timely workshop brings together leading scholars, legal experts, and policymakers from multiple jurisdictions globally to examine contemporary criminal policy responses to corporate environmental violations.
We seek to:
- Facilitate comparative legal analysis across different international frameworks.
- Share enforcement best practices to combat corporate impunity.
- Foster critical academic-practitioner dialogue on environmental justice, regulatory frameworks, and effective governance.
