Based on representative data sampled in a telephone survey in Hong Kong, this study aims to explore the relationship between media and gender violence. In scope it covers Internet content, print media, and broadcasting media. The result confirms the public perception and belief that the Hong Kong media is filled with gender violence. Yet contrary to the public discourse that the Internet?-?an unregulated public space?-?is the terrain in which gender violence is more serious than elsewhere in the media, the data implies that gender violence in the print media in fact leads to greater public concern and outcry.
